A meeting for worship during the winter months was established at Esiskunk Creek by Burlington Monthly Meeting in 1682/3; later that year the meeting was permitted to meet on a year-round basis. From 1685-94, the name of the meeting was Birch Creek. In 1694, it became known as Springfield.
